ExoShield exterior oil finish is a high-quality deep-penetrating oil that protects and beautifies exterior wood decking, siding, outdoor wood furniture and fencing. This product includes UV stable transoxide color pigments that enhance the natural beauty of the wood grain and coloration. Formulated with pure natural Tung oil and only marine grade components, ExoShield sets itself apart from the competition. ExoShield was designed to be the best exterior wood finish ever produced. ExoShield Exterior Oil Based Wood Stain


Surface must be clean, dry and free of mildew stains, dirt, dust, loose wood fibers and any other contaminant. Surface must be completely dry with wood moisture content below 15%. We recommend that the wood be exposed to at least 3 days of dry weather before application of finish.


Shake the can for at least one minute prior to opening. Stir material thoroughly and occasionally during application. Apply at temperatures above 45º F. ExoShield can be brushed, rolled, sprayed or applied with a cloth onto the wood surface; we recommend using a 3/8” nap microfiber roller. ExoShield will penetrate any porous surface, so be sure to protect any surface that you do not want to stain. Allow ExoShield to dry for 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe off any excess material with a clean dry cloth. Do not over apply the material. Coverage will range from 600 SF to 800 SF for hardwoods and 250 SF to 450 SF for softwoods. Multiple coats may be applied. Allow 24 to 48 hours before walking on your deck or using outdoor furniture. ExoShield is safe for indirect food contact after drying for 14 days. ExoShield SHOULD NOT be used on CUTTING BOARDS, SERVING PLATTERS, SALAD BOWLS, OR ON ANY FOOD PREPARATION SURFACES. ExoShield will achieve its full hardness within 30 to 45 days. Product may be thinned with VOC exempt solvent; clean up with Mineral Spirits. ExoShield colors may be mixed.


Be sure to wipe off excess product within 20 to 30 minutes after application with a clean cotton or microfibre cloth.







ExoShield has the longest lasting color available due to its high quality marine grade components including ultraviolet inhibitors. Typical maintenance schedules are 2 to 3 years for decking and outdoor furniture, and 3 to 5 years for siding and fencing.

Liability is limited to the replacement of this product, when shown to be defective, and does not include any labor or consequential damages arising from its use. It is the user’s responsibility to determine the safety and suitability of use for this product. Performance satisfaction is guaranteed for two years when used in accordance with label directions. This written warranty and guarantee supersedes all oral representations or warranties made by anyone in connection with this product. Failure to apply this product as directed voids any and all warranties and guarantees. Due to variations in customer application and weather condition exposures, guarantee is limited to replacement of product only.


WARNING! COMBUSTIBLE VAPOR AND LIQUID. DO NOT BREATHE VAPORS. VAPOR HARMFUL AND MAY AFFECT BRAIN OR CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM CAUSING DIZZINESS, HEAD-ACHE OR NAUSEA. CAUSES IRRITATION OF EYES, NOSE, THROAT AND SKIN. Keep away from heat and flame and always prevent a build-up of vapors. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Ensure adequate fresh air while using product. If eye watering, headache, or dizziness is experienced, or concentration of vapors is above applicable limits, use a NIOSH approved properly fitted respirator following manufacturer’s recommendations. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, clothing. Wash thoroughly after use. FIRST AID: In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of fresh water for at least 15 minutes, seek immediate medical attention. In case of skin contact wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING* and seek immediate medical attention. If difficulty in breathing is experienced, move to fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, seek immediate medical assistance.

*NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: Ingestion of this product or subsequent vomiting can result in aspiration of light hydrocarbon liquids which can cause pneumonitis.


Natural drying oils generate heat as the oils dry, especially over the first few hours after application. To avoid spontaneous combustion of oily cloths, soak in water after use and place in sealed metal container. Never use a sponge to apply ExoShield - it will self combust as the oils dry. Never leave stain soaked rags bunched up - they will self combust as the oils dry. Dispose of rags and excess unused product in accordance with local regulations.


We Stand Behind What We Sell

Returns and exchanges must be requested within 30 days of delivery. Returns and exchanges are subject to covering the shipping costs for the product/order to be returned to Nova. If a gallon or quart needs to be returned or exchanged, our team will get a return shipping quote and provide the cost for return shipping before moving forward with the return or exchange. Once approved, our team will send a FedEx or UPS Label and schedule a pick-up from your home. ExoShield can not be dropped off at a UPS or FedEx location due to it being considered a hazmat product.

Returns: The cost of return shipping to Nova will be subtracted from the overall refund amount. This refund will be processed once the product has been returned to one of our warehouses.

Exchanges: Nova will take payment for the return shipping cost prior to proceeding with the exchange. Once the product has been picked up by FedEx or UPS, Nova will ship the exchange order.

Satisfaction Guarantee

Whether you ordered too much or you are not happy with your purchase, you can return ExoShield in resellable condition for a full refund with No Restocking Fees within one year of your purchase. Nova USA Wood Products is not responsible for return shipping costs.

Returning Your Items

Please do not send items back without first receiving a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). You must first email customer.service@novausawood.com with your order number and the list of items you wish to return; we will not give you an RMA over the phone. If your items are eligible for return, you will then receive an email with your RMA number and the following instructions:

2. Request an RMA

3. Ship your items to us

Please carefully read and follow packing/shipping instructions:

To protect the item(s) during shipping, place the product in its original packaging then in an additional outer shipping box. Please add sufficient padding to protect the product as needed. If damage is incurred during shipping due to improper packaging, a full refund will not be issued. EXOSHIELD MUST BE SHIPPED BY GROUND. DO NOT SHIP BY AIR.

Do not write on or alter the original packaging in any way.

4. Receive confirmation your return has processed

Once your return is received and inspected, your refund will be processed and we will send you an email confirmation.

Terms of Return

There are a few key points to note before returning your items to us. Please do not send items back without first being issued an RMA. If you are unsure if your items can be returned, please check with us by calling 1-503-419-6407 or emailing us at customer.service@novausawood.com.

We do not accept returns of:

Product ordered more than one year ago.
Product not in original/resellable condition (product is damaged or used).


Product must arrive at Nova USA Wood Products in resellable condition – All returns are manually inspected, and the items must be in resellable condition. All returns must be unused and in complete packages. Stain products must be returned in their original reinforced, double-walled shipping box. If we receive stain that is damaged or spilled due to improper packaging, a refund will not be issued.

Refund Notes

Refund amounts – Any refund or credit for exchange will be based on the value of the merchandise at the time of purchase. Shipping fees are not eligible for refund unless the merchandise is defective or a shipping error occurred.

Shipping costs – Shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless merchandise is being returned due to defect or an error on the part of Nova USA Wood Products.

Damaged Product, Shipping Error, or Defective Product

Please inspect your shipment thoroughly upon delivery and report any damage or errors ASAP. Please email photos of the damage or defect (if applicable) to customer.service@novausawood.com. Replacements for damaged goods will not be shipped until our support team has received photos of the damage.

If part of your order is incorrect or missing, please contact us immediately by email customer.service@novausawood.com. Please be ready to provide us with the order number, part number, description, quantity of the incorrect or missing item(s), and a photo (if applicable). If incorrect product was shipped to you, a prepaid FedEx or UPS return shipping label will be provided via email. Once the incorrect item is dropped off at FedEx or UPS for return using the provided label, a no-cost replacement order will be shipped.
