SURFACE PREPARATION
Wood must be correctly prepared to allow NovaSeal to fully penetrate into the wood fibers for optimal results. Surface must be clean, dry, and free of mildew, stains, dirt, dust, loose wood fibers, and any other contaminant. Weathered wood must be sanded or pressure washed so that only clean, bright, fresh wood is visible. Surface must be completely dry with wood moisture content below 15%. We recommend that exterior wood be exposed to at least three days of dry weather before application of finish. New wood may require additional preparation to open up the wood grain prior to application if a sheen or mill glaze exists.
APPLICATION
After surface preparation, shake or stir the can for at least one minute prior to opening. LIBERALLY apply with a brush, roller, pump-up sprayer, or airless sprayer. If a second coat (recommended) is desired, it must be applied "wet-on-wet"—that is, within an hour of the first application, while the surface is still damp to the touch. Apply at temperatures above 45 ºF (7 °C). Coverage will range from 300 to 500 SF for hardwoods and 200 to 300 SF for softwoods. Allow 24 hours before use. NovaSeal should not be thinned with water or solvents. NovaSeal can be tinted with water-based colorants
