Black Walnut ExoShield is slightly Red-Brown blended with pure Black. A rich deep black which will protect any wood surface from damaging UV light. We recommend a 12-24 month maintenance cycle on decking and you can certainly go 48+ months on vertical siding and fencing. First, imagine parking a black car outside for over a year; now you know why you need to wash your deck once in a while!

ExoShield is a deep-penetrating tung oil finish for all hardwoods and softwoods, exterior and interior: decking, siding, fencing, furniture, paneling and more. It is made for dense tropical hardwoods such as Ipe, Cumaru, Batu, Red Balau, Meranti and Mahogany, and works equally well on Cedar, Redwood, Douglas Fir, Oak, Walnut, Hickory, Birch, Hemlock, Bamboo and thermally modified woods.
Coverage varies with the species and the age of the wood. One gallon covers up to 800 sq ft on dense hardwoods and up to 450 sq ft on softwoods. We plan jobs at 600 and 400 sq ft per gallon so you don't run short, and older, weathered boards take more.
