Nova Ambara™ — Thermally Modified Ayous

Ambara is our brand of thermally modified Ayous. Thermal modification cooks the wood at high temperature with little oxygen, which alters its cell structure so it absorbs far less moisture — the result is a naturally durable, exceptionally stable board with an even caramel color all the way through, not a surface treatment. Because Ayous is light (around 320 kg/m³), Ambara gives you that stability at a fraction of the weight of a tropical hardwood, which matters on siding, rainscreen, trim, and pergolas where handling and fastener load are real considerations.

It is a soft wood by Janka measure, so it is specified for cladding and trim rather than high-traffic decking. Stocked in FAS and A-and-Better grades:

• Rough-sawn boards from 1x4 to 5/4x12, in metric-milled widths
• T&G nickel-gap and V-joint paneling in 1x6 and 1x8
• Bevel siding in 1/2x6 and 1/2x8, and S4S square-edge stock from 2x4 to 2x12
