Rough Sawn Boards and Timbers
A rough-sawn board comes off the saw and stops there — no surfacing pass. It keeps the saw texture, which takes a stain far more readily than a planed face, and because no material is dressed away, a full-sawn timber measures its true nominal dimension: an 8x8 is a genuine eight inches by eight. That matters when the piece is structural and every fraction of section counts.
The category holds two distinct offerings. Thermally modified Nova Ambara in FAS grade covers rough-sawn boards from 1x4 through 5/4x12, the textured face used for siding and trim. All-heart Clear Angelique (Basralocus) covers full-sawn structural timbers in 8x8, 10x10, and 12x12.
