Surfaced Four Sides, Eased Edges (S4S E4E)

S4S E4E is the standard exterior board: surfaced on all four faces to a consistent net dimension, with all four edges eased to a slight radius. The surfacing is what makes a board lay flat and true against its neighbors; the eased edge is what keeps it splinter-free underfoot and stops the sharp arris from crumbling as the deck weathers. It is the profile most people mean when they say "deck board."

This is the largest profile group we mill, and it runs across the whole size range — 1x4 and 1x6 boards, 5/4x4 and 5/4x6 decking, 2x4 and 2x6 structural stock, 2x2 balusters, and 4x4 posts — in every hardwood species we carry.
