Angelique (Basralocus) Hardwood
Angelique, known in the trade as Basralocus, is a South American hardwood whose heartwood ranges from reddish-brown-grey to reddish or yellowish brown, sharply demarcated from a narrow brownish-white sapwood. Its vessels read as long brown lines on the side grain, producing an attractive figure, and it carries an unusual subsurface luster. It is also unusually high in silica — a property long associated with its use in marine and heavy exterior structures.
Our Angelique is all-heart Clear grade and is the species we carry for structural timbers: full-sawn rough timbers in 8x8, 10x10, and 12x12, alongside a 5/4x6 S4S eased-edge deck board.
