Massaranduba (Brazilian Redwood) Hardwood

Massaranduba, also called Brazilian Redwood or Bulletwood, is a very dense South American hardwood — about 3,190 Janka — whose heartwood ranges from light to dark brownish-red. The grain can run straight, wavy, or interlocked. That hardness gives it strong impact resistance in the short term and strong decay resistance over the long term, and it is easy to maintain.

We stock Massaranduba in First Clear, Select-and-Better, and Standard-and-Better grades as S4S eased-edge boards in 1x4, 1x6, 5/4x4, and 5/4x6 — the sizes that cover decking, and fascia and trim around it.

This category also includes its Pacific cousin, South Pacific Redwood (Manilkara), which is the more dimensionally stable of the two.
