5/4x4 Hardwood Boards

Five-quarter stock is milled thicker than a one-inch board — around an inch net — which is what makes it decking rather than siding: the extra thickness carries load between joists and resists the flex that a 3/4-inch board would show underfoot. In a four-inch width it gives a narrow-plank deck, the tighter board rhythm often specified for smaller decks and for stair treads, and it is also the section that handrail stock is cut from.

Stocked in Ipe, Batu, Bangkirai, and Massaranduba, in S4S eased-edge and handrail profiles.

The standard decking width is 5/4x6.
