2x8 Hardwood Boards

The 2x8 is the deepest two-inch section we stock. Depth is what buys span in a beam — a joist or rafter gets its stiffness far more from its height than its width — so this is the size that appears where a pergola or a structure has to reach across an opening without an intermediate post, and where a wide, heavy stair tread or bench slab is wanted.

Stocked in Standard-and-Better Batu as a square-edge board, and in A-and-Better thermally modified Nova Ambara.
