Grooved Decking
A grooved deck board is milled with a continuous slot down each edge so it can be held by a hidden-fastener clip that sits inside the groove, between the boards. Nothing penetrates the face of the deck: there are no screw heads to plug, countersink, or corrode, and the clip sets a consistent gap between boards while letting each one expand and contract with humidity instead of splitting against a fixed screw.
We groove 5/4x6 stock — the standard decking dimension — in Standard-and-Better Batu (Red Balau) and Bangkirai, and in thermally modified Nova Korina.
The face-fastened alternative is the standard S4S eased-edge board.
