Rainscreen Siding Patterns and Accessories

A rainscreen is a siding assembly with a deliberate ventilated cavity behind the boards. Water that gets past the face has somewhere to drain, and air moving through the gap dries both sides of the board — so the cladding stays dimensionally stable and the wall behind it stays dry. It is the detail that lets real wood siding survive on a modern, tightly sealed building envelope.

Our rainscreen boards are milled with the profile that creates that cavity and the consistent reveal between courses. Stocked in 1x4, 1x6, and 1x8 in Ipe, Batu, Cumaru, and Bangkirai, in Select-and-Better and Standard-and-Better grades.

The ExoShield oils and ExoWax end sealer listed alongside them are the finishes used to hold color on a rainscreen wall and to seal cut ends before the boards go up.
